PREFACE
The purpose of this book is to provide parents, teachers and administrators with a step-by-step guide that tells how to get those potentially low students off to a good start in beginning reading.
It also supplements other texts by presenting an effective catch-up program for students who require remedial help in reading. It will provide help for students in need, from non-reading six-year-olds to adults who may be functionally or totally illiterate. It will remove some of the anxiety and worry about such words as learning disability and dyslexia. The book has application in the classroom, the reading clinic, in the home, and wherever tutors and volunteers work, selflessly trying to make a dent in the illiteracy mountain in this country.
