The Pile O'Tabbies

Poppacat, Bitsy, and Baby

Mom decided that 4 cats was all she could handle in the IN.  So she let us live in the OUT, and fed and sheltered us on her deck.  Little did she know, fate would take a hand...

I'm Poppacat.  That's me on the left.   I was here when Mom moved in.  I'm Cinni and Cookie's real Poppa, and Mom had me fixed-though-not-broken as soon as possible.  I always came to the door to look IN, so Mom decided that I was probably dumped by someone who didn't want me any more.  It didn't take long for Mom to tame me again.  I'm now 5 years old.  More about me later...

Bitsy is 2.  She's the one on the right in these pictures.   She is a younger sister of Cinni and Cookie.  Mom had her fixed (even though she wasn't broken, either!), and let her live on the deck with me.  Six months later, a stray tabby kitten showed up - this was Baby.  She's now 1 and a half.  You guessed it - she was fixed, too, and we three tabbies lived in comfort in the OUT.  We liked to curl up in one big pile in the sun, which is how we became known as the Pile O'Tabbies.

Baby developed wanderlust, and would often be gone for a week at a time.  Bitsy and I happily stayed home...until that fate we mentioned before stepped in, in the form of a large orange tomcat.  I got into a fight with him, and was injured, and had to come IN to recuperate from my wounds.  Bitsy came in with me - and Mom decided that there was enough room after all, so we became IN cats.  But Baby was nowhere to be found.

Baby was gone for three months, then, suddenly - she was back!  Always timid, she had to be trapped to bring her IN, and that's where she is now.  She's staying in a cage for a few weeks as she learns to be more social, and then, the Pile O'Tabbies will again be complete!

Update:  May 1999:   Baby got out of kittyjail last summer, and has the run of the house.  She now sits and watches Mom from a distance, and comes running when Mom scolds her for scratching on the furniture.  Then she looks at Mom as if to say, "Who, Me?  I'm not doing nutthin'!"
