Our Background Graphic

Up until WWII, hobos - those drifters who wandered or hopped freight trains - communicated with each other using a variety of symbols.    These symbols would be drawn on sidewalks, gateposts, trees, doors, etc. to indicate to other hobos where to find work, money, food, water, a place to sleep, or to warn of dangers.  The symbol of a smiling cat means "Kind-hearted woman" - indicating a place where they could find a handout or free meal.  This has become my personal symbol - and I think my cats would agree that it suits me.
