Obscure Stories About

Will Rogers

Welcome! I collect Will Rogers items such as photos, books and movie memorablia. But most of all I like to collect stories about Will Rogers. If you have a story of your own or one told to you by someone else, please tell me about it by emailing me.

The above is a never-before-published photograph is from my collection. It was given to me by Bob Siau of Long Beach, Washington, who said his late wife took it on July 4, 1932, at the rodeo in Nowata, Oklahoma. She said that when she asked permission to take his picture, Will took off his hat, licked his hand, ran his hand across his hair, put his hat back on and grinned.

The above photo is of Will Rogers and H. Stanley Coffin, a banker and sheep baron of Washington State in the early part of the 20th century. The photograph was taken at the Yakima fairgrounds, probably in 1927 since that's the only year that Will Rogers is known to have been in Yakima. The two men played polo together during Will's visit. This photo in my collection is one of only five copies known to exist.
