         Value           >    $200  ($200,000 divided by 1,000)
         x Levy rate    >    13.24
         = Taxes        >   $2,648

  1. Do you accept credit cards for payment of taxes?

  1. How are Tax Levies Established?
Your property tax levy rate is an amount derived by dividing the amount of each taxing district's budget within the area you live (we call this a code district) by the total assessed value of the property within the district. Each of the various taxing districts' levy rates calculated in this manner is added together to derive your combined rate.

  1. What does a tax bill look like?

  2. What personal property is subject to tax?
Taxes are collected on business equipment, farm and ranch equipment, utilities and mobile homes. This is all considered Personal Property.  Personal Property tax is based on the value of existing property as of January 1st of the prior year. You can call the assessor’s office with questions regarding assessment of personal property at 360-875-9301.

  1. Why did my taxes go up so much this year?
Your assessed value may be higher this year due to a re-evaluation by the Assessor. Also, the rate in your district could be higher this year due to school levies, etc.

  1. I need to move my mobile home. What do I need to get a moving permit, and where do I get the permit?
According to the type of movement, there may be different requirements. Generally taxes must be current, if moving out of the County into another County in the state of Washington, the advance year tax must be paid prior to the moving permit being issued. There is no charge for the permit itself. The permit is prepared in the County Treasurer's Office. Please contact the Treasurer's Office for further details.

  1. What is real estate excise tax?
Real Estate Excise tax is the tax charged on the sale of real property. The rates vary from 1.53% to 1.78%, calculated on the sale price. Excise tax is due 30 days from the date of the sale and is collected by the County Treasurer.

  1. I am a new property owner.  I received a tax statement in mail, and my mortgage company is supposed to pay my taxes.
When ownership changes on any real property, we send the new owner a courtesy property tax statement. If your mortgage company is to pay your taxes you need to verify with them that they will be paying these for you.

  1. What happens in a foreclosure?
A foreclosure auction occurs each year usually in early December. Parcels are sold for taxes, interest and penalties owing, plus costs.

Notification of pending foreclosure action is sent to property owners the beginning of June of each year. Property owners have through June 30 of each year to pay only the year, which is placing them into foreclosure to remove their property from the foreclosure process.

After June 30 of each year, if accounts are still greater than three years delinquent, all taxes interest, penalties and costs (RCW 84.64), must be paid to remove the parcel from the foreclosure process. Additional costs are added to each account as they are accrued by the Treasurer's Office. Title reports are generated, notices within the local newspapers are published and certified notices are mailed out to all parties with an interest in the property. Each year approximately 40 parcels are auctioned. A listing of pending sale items is available for viewing on-line at the Pacific County Treasurer's web page in the late fall of each year. It is also published in the local newspaper The Chinook Observer in early September. For additional information please call (360) 875-9421.
