2008 Amateur Radio Field Day
The
American Radio Relay League Field Day 2008 was an outstanding
success with well over 1200 contacts made from areas as far away
as Ohio, Northern Florida, South Texas, California, Wyoming, Hawaii,
Alaska, and many other states of the US. Set up began on Friday,
June 27, 2008 at 10:30 a.m., and the first contacts were made at
11:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Operations continued through the day
and night, and concluded on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.
The operation was staffed by Pacific County Emergency Management
amateur radio volunteers and is considered an exercise of emergency
communications. Many visitors attended at various times throughout
the 24 hour period and those new to the field, were encouraged to
“get on the air”. The total number of contacts made and points
earned are still being calculated. Updated information will be
posted as soon as the collected data has been organized and
totaled.

W7RDR 2008 FIELD DAY RESULTS
(After Action Report)
Pacific County Field Day had 30 active
participants, many of whom
helped on Friday with setup, for a record turnout.
RACES training consisted of learning
and practicing set up of antennas and stations,
operating voice and CW stations, sending digital Telnet
packet email, digital PSK31 HF radio contacts, and satellite
contact procedures. On Friday evening participants contacted
the Long Beach Alternate EOC and together contacted stations
in Montana, Washington and California. This demonstrated
the ability of the Alternate EOC to have good contact
coverage in the
Pacific Northwest.
