JourneyerJanet's Vice first CD When I first listened to Naomi's four song demo in 2003, I realized I had crossed paths with a very amazing and talented songwriter. She was proud of those early recordings, but remained incredibly humble regarding the caliber of the music she had written. I knew we needed to expose as many people as possible to her songs... Music like this definitely needs to be shared.

During our live performances, there continued to be endless confirmation about the influence the music was having on everyone who heard it. Numerous requests for a Janet's Vice CD prompted us to consider recording, but real life kept rearing it's ugly head. Trying to manipulate all of our schedules around the amount of time and energy required to make multiple road trips into a recording studio was just not in the cards. We eventually decided that our only option was to produce the CD ourselves. After investing in some portable digital recording equipment, and tapping into the vast talents and resources of some of our local musician friends, we were able to set up as many 'on the fly' recording sessions as each of our hectic schedules allowed. Work on the CD began in late May 2004, and after countless setbacks and delays, final mixing was completed around Thanksgiving. Each of us has contributed many hours into this project, all the while dealing with everything Murphy's Law could see fit to throw down at us. During the recording, Naomi realized that each of the songs dealt with some form of travel, either physical or spiritual. Based on that, it was decided that the title track for the CD should be 'Journeyer', one of the very first songs written as a collective effort by the band. We are very proud of this recording, and hope everyone who listens to it will be as inspired as we were while recording it. D.G. |
