Background

He escaped Germany when a revolution started in mid-19th century, since if he'd been caught he would have been killed. By the time those revolting were overthrown and he would have been safe, the ship had put out to sea.

He married twice, had a daughter by each marriage. There is conflicting information as to which wife was first and which second.

Married a Cajun girl from New Orleans. (Cajuns were the displaced Acadians from Canada... French Canadians... That is to say, usually French and AmerIndian.)

Contacted from The Netherlands -- who found this website on the Internet -- by a family named Zurlohe, tracing their family back to Westfalia in the mid-19th century.
