Configuring MacTCP

  • Click on the Apple menu and choose Control Panels.
  • Choose "MacTCP" from the list of Control Panels.

The first screen to appear will have a couple of icons at the top of it. Make sure that "MacPPP" is hi-lighted then click "More".

There are only three areas that you are concerned about in this windows. These areas are hi-lighted in the picture.

  • Under "Obtain Address", make sure the dot is next to "Server".
  • Under IP Address, make sure that it is set to Class "C".
  • Under Domain Name Server Information, fill in the fields as shown (make sure that one of the lines is marked as "Default".

After it's all been filled out, click on "OK", then close the main MacTCP window. You may be asked to restart after making any changes to MacTCP. Go ahead and restart as none of the changes that you have made are made effective until you have restarted.

The next step is to configure ConfigPPP.
