Support: Windows Setup

In this section, we have tried to outline some of the basic procedures for configuring
Windows to work with an Internet Service Provider (like PUD Internet) through a dial-up
connection via your modem. Though Windows has built in the features needed to make this
network connection, these parameters must be configured in order to achieve the
"setup" necessary to go online. We provide this information to allow you to help
quickly troubleshoot why your system cannot connect properly. Once set, switches will
seldom need to be changed.

Using the Setup!
Connecting
You should be all set to connect.
- Double click on the new icon that was made in the Dial-up Networking folder [My
Computer:Dial-up Networking: New Icon (e.g. PUD Internet)].
- Enter your username and password in the appropriate fields and click
Connect.
- If you don't want to have to enter your password before connect every time, simple check
the box next to "Save Password".
- After clicking on Connect, your modem should dial and connect to our modem. Once the
status window shows a timer (the amount of time that you have been on line), and a
Disconnect button, you are connected. At this point, you may start Netscape, Eudora, etc.
Disconnecting
When you are finished, simply activate the Dial-up Networking window (the one with the
counter on it), and;
Be sure to disconnect, otherwise, you will use up time needlessly. Our modems are set
to automatically disconnect if they are idle for a continuous 20 minutes, but this is 20
minutes that could be use a little more productively on the 'net...
