At this point if you have any email to send or receive it will happen now. All new mail will be delivered to the inbox. Enjoy your new email address.

Checking / Sending Mail

The first step in checking or sending your Email is to connect to the Internet. Once a connection has been established, open Microsoft Outlook Express. When the program opens. Click on the "Send and Recieve" button.

Outlook Express will now connect to the mail server and check to see if there is any new Email waiting. All new Email will be listed in the "In" box. Here you may click on the message line to view the full message.

Before reading and replying to all of your new Email, I would encourage you to disconnect if you have no other activities on the Internet. This way you may do all the reading and writing of Email that you like but you won't use up your hours unnecessarily.

To write a new message, click on the  New Message icon. A window will appear where you type in the Email address of the person you are writing to. Enter a subject of the message in the Subject: line. The bottom part of the window is where you type your Email message.

Once you have written a message, you may send the message. Make sure you are connected to the internet before hitting the send button.  Once you have made a connection, once again hit the "Send and Receive" button, to check for more incoming messages and to send any outgoing messages in your "Out" box.

Summary

By no means is this meant to be full documentation on Microsoft Outlook Express. This is meant to be a short introduction into the use and set-up of Outlook Express so that you may start sending and receiving Email.
